Where I've Been

Upon learning to hand-code HTML markup and developing a web site in 2000, I have not stopped reading, practicing and studying web site design. I look back over the last 8.43 years as a time of significant growth in what has ultimately become my profession.

Where I'm Going

The impact of learning PHP & MySQL was significant in my marketability as a freelance web developer.

My focus in web site development has evolved to embrace and practice web standards, usability and cross-browser implementation.

In November of 2004 I began learning to develop dynamic, database driven web sites with PHP & MySQL. I completed 'Advanced Web Programming' opens new window at Tarrant County College in Spring 2005, earning an 'A'.

The impact of learning PHP & MySQL was significant in my marketability as a freelance web developer.

In July of 2005 I began freelancing PHP & MySQL programming for a local web design company. This eventually turned into a 3 month full-time position.

What I'm Doing

I am currently employed as a web developer with a another local web design company. About 80% of my time is spent coding with PHP & MySQL. The remaining time is with CSS layout.

My desire is to work within an organization...as it grows and matures...implement web standards based designs utilizing CSS and XHTML...

My Goal

My desire is to work within an organization on a long-term project that I can be a part of as it grows and matures. Or, (or in addition) be able to implement web standards based designs utilizing CSS and XHTML exclusively.

More Web Development Interests

My other web design interests include:

  • Information Architecture
  • Javascript
  • DOM
  • Search Engine Optimization
  • AJAX
  • XML
  • FLASH
  • Fireworks, Photoshop & Illustrator
