Skills Ticker

This is a more in-depth look at my web design and development skill set. Plus, it's got the amount of time I've been actively studying and using these skills.

HTML / XHTML

The only 'how-to' book I ever read from cover-to-cover was Sams 'Teach Yourself HTML 4.0 in 24 Hours'.

That was the beginning of what has turned into a crazy 'I-have-found-my-passion' journey.

Since that time I've spent many, many hours learning to write clean markup. I am a devotee of semantic markup as much as possible. Seperating the layout from the markup is an intregal part of my work.

I've used various software to write markup with. My current tool of choice is Dreamweaver MX 2004. I always start my work with a blank sheet (or standard CSS layout from my own stash) and go from there. I've always taken pride in the fact that I'm an old schooler when it comes to markup.

Cascading Style Sheets

PHP

MySQL

If I only knew then what I know now. My first web site was a 2 year project. I was building a Christian music web site. I didn't know about databases. Every page for every artist was hand duplicated.
