Wordpress or Textpattern

I’m kicking around trying out textpattern for a while. I’ve seen several cool web sites that look really nice using the textpattern framework. I haven’t found the time to style this blog section with the rest of my site.

I’ve been a Wordpress advocate for about 1 1/2 years now, but it might be neat to try something different.

Amusingly enough, I integrated Wordpress into a clients site at the WDCIRJFA. He claimed that Wordpress was ‘the most difficult content managment system in the world.’ Maybe for the benefit of future would-be web page makers, I should learn about textpattern.

When it comes to opinions of what UIs are difficult and which aren’t, it’s often a case of what you’re used to.

Regardless, it’s fun to explore. I love me some wordpress, especially with the healthy plug-in community around it, but you should definitely at least dig a little into textpattern to get a general sense of it.

I installed Textpattern last night. It’s doesn’t seem any more intuitive than WordPress. I think I’ll set it up on the server and play with skinning it. See how things go.
